Engagement should not make you late.

Here are a few engagement strategies that are productive and save time.

  • Set reminders for hard stops. To ensure you make it to back-to-back meetings on time, prepare ahead of time by setting a timer to sound when it’s time to wrap up and transition to the next meeting.

  • Pack for pit stops. Avoid running late in the mornings by packing your bag with makeup, jewelry, and other accessories that you can put on once you get there. Once you arrive, make a pit stop at the restroom (or in your car mirror) to put on the remaining items before you start your day.

  • Do morning laps. On the way to your workspace, take a stroll around the office to say quick hellos to team members.

  • Grab a to-go lunch together. Spend time with coworkers on the go by riding or walking you to pick up lunch and bring it back to the office.

  • Meet goals in stride. Schedule walking meetings. Instead of carrying pen and paper, commit to discuss and resolve only one or two of your top work items.

  • Que up topics of conversation. Share interesting articles and podcast episodes that you can discuss with members of your team during downtimes and needed work breaks.

  • Add small talk as an agenda item. Arrive at meetings several minutes early to chat with team members before getting down to business.
