WORKABLE Module

This week, interns are navigating through the WORKABLE module - meaning "willingness to talk and engage in activities with others". Here are three ways interns are navigating new environments, diverse teams, and expectations..

Interworking

Because a new position brings unfamiliar experiences in an unfamiliar company culture, interns are encouraged to leverage the interworking of their professional environment and team interactions to ask the right questions and approach their work in an effective way.

Deliver in Chunks

To build confidence and show their ability to deliver, interns are encouraged to break down projects into small, achievable tasks.

Hold Yourself Accountable

To better understand what's expected of them and assess their capabilities, interns are encouraged to get clear on the tasks they have a good handle on and the tasks they need support to complete.

SUPERVISOR SUPPORT STRATEGIES

  • Interns bring different perspectives to a predictable company culture. Welcome these new ways of seeing your work environment and team dynamics and encourage your interns to ask questions and share their approaches to work.

  • Take note of how your interns approach projects. Recognize their ways of breaking down projects into smaller, achievable tasks and demonstrating their ability to deliver.

  • Help your interns get clear on desired results from their work. Have conversations to outline the goals to accomplish, the deadlines to meet, and your performance expectations.

  • At the beginning of each week,

    • Read the weekly email with strategies to help support interns as they work on the soft skill challenge. (Interns receive a text message and will choose one soft skill challenge to work on.)

    • SOFT SKILL CHALLENGE: Send an email message to interns, asking them to share their chosen soft skill challenge.

    During each week,

    • Answer questions and issues that arise for your intern. Be available to provide a listening ear and help to find solutions.

At the end of each week,

    • TRACK Record Log. You’ll receive an email reminder to collect your intern’s log entry for the week.

  • Send an email to info@careerlog.co.

  • Where are the sessions held?
Program lessons are digital—no login, no class time.

    • Soft skill challenges are delivered to interns via a weekly SMS/text message sent to your mobile phone. (Save 216-294-0444 in your contacts as “Careerlog”.)

    • Supervisor support strategies are delivered via a weekly email message sent to your inbox. (Save info@careerlog.co in your contacts as "Careerlog".)

This allows participants to complete the program while working.

Do the lessons involve tests or quizzes? How do I successfully complete the program?
Interns receive no tests or quizzes. To receive a certificate of completion, interns must complete a weekly TRACK Record Log entry.

    Are there program materials?
No. There are no program materials to download. A copy of the TRACK Record Log entries will be sent to interns and their supervisors.
